What about the new Nikon D90?

Friday Jun 27, 2008

Ok what do we think about the new nikon d90?
AND THE NEW NIKON LENS THAT COMES WITH IT AS A KIT LENS.

I’m currently saving up for this camera. I’m really interested in it. From the 12 megapixels, to the three inch live view screen, and most of all the 24 fps High Definition shooting! The world’s first digital SLR to shoot video. Personally, i never thought it would happen. It’s 1,000$ body only which is rather cheap in the SLR world, i expected the d90 to be WAY more than that. I really want this camera, it’s so high- tech and cool. The 18-105mm lens seems a little inadequate, i mean, they have an 18-135mm lens, why not supply that? But that’s besides the point, i wouldn’t use the kit lens anyway.

I will buy this eventually, but wait for it to get reviewed very thoroughly and see what the images look like. It seems to be a really nice camera, it’s on my wish-list.

I wish I was rich! I think this camera will change the way we as the consumer take pics/vid. I have a Nikon D70(slightly older DSLR) and I love it! I’m saving for a zoom lens for that so when in nature I can get my close-up shots. But I use it for taking everyday photo’s and I love it. So when this Nikon hits the stores I think it will sell well!

Well, 12.3 MP is very nice, and 4 frames per second is pretty good!
also the 3200 top iso speed is amazing compared to my 1600 on my rebel xti.

so overall, i think its a wonderful camera.
but i wouldn’t get it if you are just starting out photography

OMG, I ♥ PONIES!!1:

It's a pretty safe bet that the D90 will be a step up from the D80 in almost every respect. Here's a preview: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/

If you want it soon, preorder. It will probably sell like crazy. If you can afford to wait however, see what the initial reviews say; sometimes the first batch of a new model has minor problems (true for any brand).

As for the lens, we'll have to wait for reviews. From the D70 to the D80 Nikon replaced the 18-70mm kit lens with a slightly inferior 18-135mm. The D90 comes with a new 18-105mm design and I'm not sure which way Nikon is going with this. It will do just fine, I'm sure, but you may prefer a different lens.

Im a Nikonite through and through. Ive read the reviews and have decided to stick with my Nikon D300, D200 and D80. I was going to change my back up camera from a D80 to a D90 but it doesn’t offer much more than I already have. I think I would be wasting my money to be honest. I would used the lenses I already have if I purchased a D90 in the future when the price comes down.
