Thanks very much …
Thanks very much for the tips man!
Could you please tell me if the 18-55 VR Nikon Lens is a good lens for shooting film? Or should I spend a couple hundred bucks more and buy the 18-105? I’m in a low budget, so if I could get very good results with the 18-55 I would choose buying it.
Thanks again!

Thanks again! You really are the man. To be clear though with the filters. I should set the ae lock first with the naked lens THEN put on the filter? Thanks for your time.

You want non “G” …
You want non “G” lenses to be able to control aperature. I would go with something like a “Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 AF-S” that has an aperature ring, or the AF 24mm f/2.8D. You would set the AE lock after putting the lens on and setting the aperature.

Once again, THANK …
Once again, THANK YOU! I’m shooting a project with a lot of motion (capoeira) outdoors and also in very low light. I have the 50mm 1.8 but wanted to maybe rent a wide angle to capture outdoors. Could you recommend? Also, I’m going to buy the filters this weekend but could you further explain how/when to use. In other words would I put them on before setting ae-lock or after? Thanks again. You are so helpful!

Correct that ISO …
Correct that ISO has nothing to do with it. The D300s works exactly the same way as the D90 in regards to the video controls. None of the manual control functions will effect the Liveview video. The only way for the aperture to affect video is by manually moving the dial on the lens. Otherwise, Liveview will auto control everything on the D300s/D90/ and D5000

im using d300s,i dun know about d90, but i can change the aperture like i would normally do in the camera body, but then i have to close the live view and then turn it on again in order for the change to take place. So basically ISO has nothing to do with it is that correct?

The only way to …
The only way to have any manual control is to use a manual control aperture lens. IF the lens you are using does not have this, you will not have any control over the image at all.

i just got d300s, it seems that the iso does not affect the exposure? so i just need to play with aperture?

I’m using the D90 to record the video :) For trading the camera, you can try photo and video forums, though you may end up on ebay and probably have to sell your D80 first.

if you have the …
if you have the 35mm, you probably dont need the 50mm. I like the 50mm 1.8, but the 1.4 is a much better built lens, and is easier to focus. The bokeh is differnet and it is marginally brighter.
