If you have very steady hands the VR usually turns itself off when taking pictures. 		<description>At 105 mm you can usually shoot at 1/125 second handheld without too much problem so you can use the 105 with or without VR  with the 135 is you shoot at 1/250 second or faster you also will not really miss the VR.  So its really which lens gives you the reach you want.
