Assuming your going to buy from Ebay, there are a lot of choices. The Nikon D2x is a good camera, you know. I have a good adult friend (a professional photographer) who has one, and she loves it. She also got it used, at a good price. It isn’t a new camera, but it has twelve megapixels, and some pretty up-to-date features. And, it is a professional camera after all. I think you’d be happy be with.

You can also look at a used D200, or even maybe a D300.

You could get a new D90 and some good lenses with $1500. Don't get a D2x, the D90 is cheaper and produces better images.

D80 D90 and get a nice lens like 50mm 1.8D. Or if you're a Canon buff, go for the 40D and get a nice lens or two.
