I’ve narrowed my choices to a Nikon D300 and a Nikon D90. I have an initial budget of around $2500 to spend for just lens and body and plan on purchasing the Nikon 18-200mm lens for ($750) and then have a choice of either getting the Nikon D300 ($1799) or getting the Nikon D90 ($999) with the same lens 18-200mm and buy an additional lens 12-24mm lens ($1000).
Everyone says spend more on the lens, and I have allotted that much money to the lens, but my concern is, for what I am buying is the 18-200mm lens for D300 good enough or should I spend more to get more out of the D300 or stay with the D90 and get the same lens along with my extra savings and purchase a wide angle 12-24mm lens…
Prices are from RitzCamera, no tax no shipping, no problem.I could shop around to get a better deal, but thats not my main concern.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, didnt mention to note I will be shooting indoor sporting events (baseball, basketball, hockey, football), night life events (requiring low lighting) and wide angle shots.. (nature, trips to Europe and Asia).
I Agree with David M…You are going to be frustrated and disappointed trying to shoot indoor sporting events and low light. Go with the D90 and get the 70-200. It’s worth every nickel!
